Easy Drop Biscuits Recipe

Words can’t express how much I love this easy Drop Biscuits recipe. These Sour Cream & Chive Drop Biscuits are seriously so simple and quick you’ll want to make these every night. They are the ideal weeknight recipe!

Like the Pecorino Drop Biscuit recipe, this easy drop biscuits recipe can easily be customized based on what you’ve got on hand (maybe a bacon cheddar biscuit?) These easy biscuits are slightly dense and super buttery, making them perfect for breakfast sandwiches or dipping into a bowl of my White Bean Soup with Pancetta & Kale. You know what to do.

Easy Drop Biscuits Recipe – Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • ⅔ cup sour cream, chilled
  • ½ cup milk, chilled
  • ¼ cup butter, melted and cooled, plus more for brushing on top of biscuits
  • 3 tbsp chives or scallions, minced

Cook’s Note:

If you don’t have sour cream on hand, don’t worry. I have tested this easy drop biscuits recipe with Greek Yogurt and it worked perfectly! So much so I almost renamed them Greek Yogurt Drop Biscuits!

I love to add cheddar to just about everything and it is delicious in these biscuits as well. Shallots work beautifully here too. Have fun with this easy drop biscuit recipe – it’s a keeper!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. In a medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Whisk until no lumps remain.

Step 2

Add sour cream, milk, and melted butter. Mix just until a very sticky dough comes together.

Step 3

Add sliced chives and fold together until combined.

Step 4

Using two spoons, drop 1/4 cup sized balls of dough onto a greased baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.

Step 5

Bake biscuits for about 15 minutes, then remove from the oven and brush tops with melted butter. Place biscuits back in oven and continue baking for another 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown. Allow biscuits to cool slightly before serving.
